Indeo Codec 5.2 under Windows Vista

I had recorded a few vids and stuff on webcam and since I upgraded to Vista none of these would work. Microsoft dropped Indeo support with XP, and if you follow web guides etc your only option is to BUY the latest Vista version of the Indeo codec. How very dare they! MS sell me a webcam, and when I move to the latest MS O/S they expect me to pay for the codec… well you don’t have to.

Open up a command prompt (start->run->cmd) and enter

regsvr32 ir50_32.dll

Turns out MS included the Indeo codec all along, just chose not to add it. Now all my N4000 videos and other legacy stuff I have encoded in Indeo work in media player :)
